InvenSense’s 3-axis gyroscope family of parts are the world’s first single-chip, digital-output, 3-axis MEMS devices. Various members of the three-axis gyroscope family are optimized for consumer and industrial applications. The MPU-3xxx family of devices feature three 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for digitizing the gyro outputs, programmable low-pass filters, I²C or SPI serial interfaces, low-voltage operation (from 2.1 V to 3.6 V), and small, 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.9 mm QFN packages.

Our family of  ITG-3xxx devices support raw 3-axis gyroscope data output only. The MPU devices feature an embedded Digital Motion Processor™ (DMP™) hardware accelerator engine, and a secondary I²C-master sensor bus that interfaces to external sensors to deliver sensor fusion output of processed motion data. The MPU devices incorporate InvenSense’s MotionFusion™ and run-time calibration firmware that enables manufacturers to eliminate the costly and complex selection, qualification, and system level integration of discrete devices in motion-enabled products, and guarantees that sensor fusion algorithms and calibration procedures deliver optimal performance.

The InvenSense MotionApps™ Platform that comes with the MPU devices abstracts motion-based complexities, offloads sensor management from the operating system and provides a structured set of APIs for application development.

  • Embedded Digital Motion Processing™ (DMP™) engine supports the 3D MotionProcessing Platform. When used with a digital 3-axis third party accelerometer, the IMU collects the accelerometer data via a dedicated interface, while synchronizing data sampling at a user defined rate. The total data set obtained by the IMU-3000 includes 3-axis gyroscope data, 3-axis accelerometer data, and temperature data.
  • 512-Byte FIFO buffers complete data set, reducing timing requirements on the system processor and saving power by enabling the processor to burst read the FIFO data, and then enter into a low-power sleep mode while the IMU collects more data.
  • VDD analog supply voltage range of 2.1V to 3.6V
  • Flexible VLOGIC reference voltage allows for I2C interface voltages from 1.71V to VDD
